I have not done a “animal vs. animal” thread in a while. I know they would never encounter each other in their natural setting, but I still wonder which animal would prevail in a fight. Which beast would win such a conflict and why? ---

My WAG: Assuming an unrealistic fight to the death, Bear wins. Gorillas are strong, but brown bears are strong, outway the gorilla and can take more punishment. Fingers lose to claws. But if there are trees in the arena, then the gorilla climbs into a tree where he has the advantage, and it’s a standoff. ---

A Grizzly bear can grow to about 850 pounds. A gorilla grows to about 500 pounds. The bear takes it ---

Gorilla is about 500 pounds Grizzly bear is about 850 pounds Polar bear is 1300 pounds The bears have a clear advantage here ---

Rocket launchers are too obvious for gorilla warfare. They tend to prefer claymore mines with a trip-wire detonator. An easy kill should a grizzly swagger into the target zone. I wonder if you could teach a gorilla to fight. I would think they would have sufficient strength to break a bear’s leg or neck. They’re a bit smarter than a bear too, I reckon. So they could probably figure out a way to get the bear to … um … uh … disembowel itself? ---

i’m totally going gorilla here, he may weigh less but he’s more agile. Remember, Hulk Hogan was way bigger than the Macho Man and yet the Macho Man would beat him at times too, so there’s my logic. ---

You keep using Googlefight. I do not think it does what you think it does. pit a mouse against … well…anything. I’m thinking the “winner” is the one with the most hitson Google. Popularity is no way to predict a fight young one. ---

Well said, Inigo. I say definatly the bear, mainly because gorrilla are just not very agressive creatures. They’re all talk. Well, actually all hooting and chest pounding but same thing. Unless the hooting scares the bear off they really don’t have any other moves. ---

Grizzly bear size varies by location. Generally speaking it depends on the amount of food available; more food leads to bigger bears. In Katmai National Park in Alaska, where the bears feast on the enormous salmon runs, weights can exceed one thousand pounds. ---
