Inspired by [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=725510). Got up Thursday morning at 4:17 and took off to try doing the Saddlesore 1,000. That’s 1,000 miles in 24 hours on your motorcycle. Been thinking about it for several years and finally decided that at age 67 if I didn’t try soon it wouldn’t be getting any easier. Was fueled up and out of Carson City at 4:48. Went south on 395 to Victorville, CA the took I-15 to Vegas, 95 north to US 50 and then on back to Carson. Got home about 9:30. My longest stop was in Victorville at a Subway for lunch, 20 minutes. The next morning, just by accident, I woke up at 4:17 again. So I decided to try to doing the Bunburner 1,500. That’s 1,500 miles in 36 hours. You can combine the two as long as you get 1,000 in 24 and the 1,500 in 36. Out of Carson before 5:00. Rode to Austin, NV, then north to Battle Mountain, west to Reno, and on home. Got back at 12:30. Not nearly as cool as a carrier landing, but not bad for an old man. ---

I was surprised by route 305. I figured getting to Battle Mountain would be as boring as getting to Austin. But is was a cool ride. I’ll have to try it some time when I’m not running 90+. ---

At the end I was glad enough to be done but it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. Probably could have done another 500 miles. ---
