Got wood?

Yeah, I only burn wood for the occasional backyard firepit fire, and it doesn’t take long to burn out. Keeping a house warm 24/7 through the winter requires a pile of wood the same size as the house. :stuck_out_tongue:

Where’s the tarp covering your cord?

It’s on the other side of the stacks, held down with a 4x4. It’s sunny today, but we’re going to cover the stacks tonight because there will be rain for the foreseeable future.

(Anyway, the pic wouldn’t have been meaningful if the wood was covered with a tarp! :stuck_out_tongue: )

One month later, we’ve burned about a quarter of the wood. The first stack is gone, but for a little bit I put by the back door. Mrs. L.A. likes ‘recreational fires’ in the fire pit, and she used some there. Now it’s cold enough to have fires in the wood stove…

The wood thread is back! Last week I got a half cord of mixed hardwood delivered and stacked for $110.

Should last a while, we may have 1-2 fires a week that last for 3-4 hours. About one load in the wood sling.

I only use mine in my smoker. I was going through about 2/5 of a cord a year and buying it a cord at a time but the last couple batches, even covered and off the ground, it was just not lasting well. The final 1/4 or so I gave to a neighbor for his furnace/woodburner. I found a really good local garden shop that sells 1/5s at $30 if you pick it up. Plus he lets me paw around and pick the rack I want. That is my new favorite source.
