Gout redux

I had to think a minute before I got it. Is “brain gout” a thing?

gout is really such a bummer. my dad just recently had an episode or gout attack as most people call it. blame it on the beer from the holidays. yes, the last one he had was during the holidays. it’s totally time to seriously follow that low purine diet.

I don’t know if you are still having the gout problem but I too swear by the cherry juice remedy. It has worked for me on two occasions. However a preventative measure that no one seems to have mentioned is bromelain, which is an extract from pineapple. Since I have taken it on a daily basis I have not had a recurrence. I think you can buy it at any health food store. I get 500mg capsules from “The Vitamin Shoppe.” I have taken one or two capsules a day and cannot tell the difference.

I’ve been free of pain for the past six months. I’ve been drinking beer, eating mussels and other “foods to avoid”. I drink a gallon or so of water every day and I like to think that is what has kept me ump tom free. I can live with an attack of excruciating pain once a year or so if need be.

“The best cure for rhumatiz is to thank the Lord it ain’t the gout!”

Oh, you amateur you… 600mg / day… :frowning:
No Goose liver… Booo
Less meat in general… Boooooo X 42
Exercise… Booooo - Hisssss
Alcoholic ( 23 years sober ) I am kinda used to the no beer part… he he he
Cranberry/Dark cherry juice, all I can stand, or not.
Cranberry supplements, bazillion mg works for me…

The Allopurinal level might be cut back but I am not ready to chance that yet…

No gout in 5-6 years… Yay me !!!

Anybody who has to suffer with this in /at any level has my deepest empathy & sympathy.

↑ ↑ ↑ This… Bawahahaha

i second tart cherry juice. Concentrate sold in health stores. I had gout to the point I couldn’t walk without crutches. My brother told me he takes tart cherry juice and it clears him right up. I’m not usually a guy who does home remedies, but I didn’t want to take another pill either, so I tried it. It isn’t the magic my brother describes, it took about three days, but I haven’t had a flair-up in three months and all my other joint aches and pains are gone as well.

Good to hear about this. YAYYYYY!! You should consider knowing the top gout foods to avoid because it is very important in every gout’s condition since diet has a great impact to the levels of uric acid. Here’s s list of those top gout foods to avoid @ http://goo.gl/z5WCQN

Yeah, but. The list of “foods to avoid” overlaps considerably with the list of “foods I like”.
