You haven’t done anything specifically Pittable, but your thread-starting obsession and guileless statements about hipsters and/or young women are just fucking _weird_. Starts uncontroversially enough: [Do you guys enjoy hipster movies like these?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=627663) (As a result of the thread I watched _The Squid and the Whale_ and loved it - thanks!) Then gets a little more oogy: [Do you guys like hipster girls like these?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=627940) (Yes, she’s beautiful. No she’s not a hipster. If I were her I’d be getting a restraining order.) Moving into the frankly odd: [So what is a hipster exactly?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=628489) (This one’s a doozy because he appears not to know what the word means, then tells people they’re wrong when definitions are offered.) Finally some pictures of young women who resemble the girl in thread #2: [Can you really find girls like this in small towns and rural areas?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=628880) (Apparently they’re _not_ hipsters.) There’s just something… not quite right about it all. Until recently your posting has seemed relatively normal, but in the past few weeks it’s got strange as hell. If you EVER feel like acting on any of these obsessions, please take a step back and compare yourself to the majority of the population and say “what would other people do?” And take that as a guide for your behaviour. ---

Meh. It doesn’t really tweak my weird-o-meter. He strikes me like a guy that just recently ran across the hipster meme that’s been all over the internet and he has it on his brain. There are places among this large series of tubes where they talk in nothing but memes, and it’s probably affected him a tad. Would you rather him post links to rage comics? ---

These are easily some of least creepy posts about lady pictures I’ve ever seen. You want to know who is really creepy? The guy who always posts “Daddy likes.” That’s super creepy. ---

Frankly, I’m just annoyed at GovernmentMan because I was posting about hipster girls months before he even joined the SDMB. And these were hipster girls from Japan so it’s no surprise GovernmentMan hadn’t heard about it before. ---

I have felt some mild concern at the tone of some of these posts, myself. I actually considered starting something like this, but chickened out. I guess I try to live by the old adage of, If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. But, I’m getting braver in my posting or you guys are corrupting me or something. Having said that, I really don’t get snark from the OP, so I’ll chime in. I know you are all waiting with bated breath. Gman, have you been recently rejected by a girl you consider to be a hipster girl? Are you obsessing in real life as much as you appear to be here about these girls? It is very noticeable. I hope your thoughts are healthy ones and would urge you to look for some help, if not. ---

However, _four_ threads about hipster girl pictures is at the very least freakin’ weird. At worst, it suggests he has a girl tied up in the basement and wants to know if he can turn her into a hipster, or if he has to catch one in the wild. ETA: Damn you, **Southern Yankee**! ---

Meh. I’ve known lots of guys who go through a “women are strange and fascinating creatures” phase. IMHO it’s naivete, nothing sinister. “Hipster” is a pretty ill-defined term. As opposed to “Valley Girl” or “Goth” or any number of clearly demarcated social trends, I can understand why it spawns questions. Enjoy, Steven ---

In crude terms, “Valley Girl” is bright, while “Goth” is dark. Indeed, "Hipster"is ill-defined. Are Hipsters closer to Goths than to Valley Girls? They seem to feature characteristics of both. ---
