Governments out of road building business

I don’t think that that really helps the case. I doubt anyone would concede that having lanes blocked for 3* longer than they should be for no apparent reason other than to line the pockets of your buddies, meanwhile endangering the lives of motorists and the environment, is the most efficient part of road building!

It’s a fine effort, when you don’t completely misunderstand (or misstate) the analogy. The goverment paying for the roads with taxes and hiring private contrators to do the actual work is exactly analagous to a government run health insurance option. What we currently have, where the money doesn’t go through the government to be socialistically pooled, but instead only some people get to have private companies selectively pooling the risk and payouts to game the system for profit while working to limit health care to those who need it most is not analagous, in the slightest.

Maybe if all roads were toll roads, and if people who looked like they’d do more damage to the roads (like, say, shipment trucks) were actively denied the right to use them, then you’d have a point. But that’s not how it is, and so you don’t.
