I had a boss who pronounced ‘Wednesday’ just the way it looks.

Dunno what copy of OED you’re looking at, but mine agrees with M-W.

Now, if you’d actually done some, whatdoyacallitohright RESEARCH, on the etymology of the word, then you might have been able to dispel your own ignorance. Alas, gone is the moment and you’re just another buffoon.

I’ll give you a wee tiny hint:  
How do you pronounce “succeed”? What about “acceleration”? “Occlude”? Or, you know, any other word with the double-c? This is grade-school English, boy, you should know the rules by now.
