Yep. Ender’s Game is fine, but the sequels leave me cold and I always get the nagging feeling that all of his characters speak the same way, think the same way, have the same goals and try to achieve those goals in the same way. Rarely do I feel like any of his characters are really differentiated from one another.
Add another vote for Asimov. I don’t see anything wrong with voting based on happy memories. He got me through my childhood.
…but Clarke got me through “Childhood’s End”.
What a novel that was! Probably the very best.
