I once left a small box of sugar free cookies in a plastic bag where my dog could get at it. He ate all the cookies and a good portion of the box.
He vomited nearly every 30 minutes for next 24 hours.

I found out about the grape thing when I spilled a small amount of wine on the kitchen floor. My 11 lb. dachshund raced over and did what I trained him to do (easiest command to teach a dog ever): “Hoover up!”
Something about grapes and dogs nagged at me and made me Google it, and I was just horrified. Called the vet immediately. They explained it was a common fungus that most grapes have, not harmful to humans but as stated, fatal to dogs who have a particular sensitivity to it. Vet said if my dog was affected by it, then there was little they could do, and if he wasn’t, he’d be fine. The next 24 hours were nail biters for me, too, so I completely relate to your experience, harmonicamoon!
My little guy was/is fine, but I’m a lot more careful with All Things Grape, these days.
Didn’t know about the xylitol. I’ll be extremely careful about that now, too. Ignorance fought, and thank you to SeaDragonTattoo for pointing it out!
