I’ve been trawling through the Achewood archives recently and came upon [this gem](http://m.assetbar.com/achewood/uua7HlwbP), which caught me in a very unexpected way. It’s impossible to convey fully what I feel, but if you do the dog’s voice like the retarded man from _Sling Blade_ you come close.

[The Cartilage Head arc is the closest there will ever be to a comic strip series that replicates David Lynch’s work.](http://www.achewood.com/index.php?date=09132005)

[This one could be a sampler.](http://achewood.com/index.php?date=04082003) [This one completes the mental image.](http://achewood.com/index.php?date=04082003) It is a special thing indeed.

[The story of Rustmouth illustrates Onstad’s willingness to tell interesting stories that largely stand alone.](http://achewood.com/index.php?date=12142006) The fact this works at all in the medium of a periodic comic strip with a main continuity is evidence of raw talent.

[The long Bensington Butters arc](http://achewood.com/index.php?date=09212006) moves into wonderful [magic realism, which used to be the currency and credo of American animation until some time in the 1930s](http://achewood.com/index.php?date=10042006). Lonis Edison is the illegitimate child of Ub Iwerks.

What reminds you why Achewood eats up your time like a half-starved frat boy?
