Great albums released by mediocre/past their prime artists

Eric Clapton kick started his career again with his Unplugged album after he’d been on a downslide for many years.

I’ll third it. I love all those albums, especially No More Shall We Part. The only dud in the bunch is Nocturama.

And also count me as one of those who adore the double album.

L.A. Woman was pretty strong too, though many consider it an acquired taste.

Steeleye Span - Time.

Tony Bennett made a terrific comeback some years ago, gaining a whole new batch of fans. His album with k.d. lang is an honest effort by both.
