I haven’t seen it for awhile but there was a “Got Milk?” ad that always had me laughing so hard my sides hurt.

These 2 kids are just finishing up breakfast but haven’t touched their milk and there Mom tells them if they want to grow big and strong they better drink up. There is a big window outside of there breakfast nook looking onto their neighbor’s front yard and an old guy with a wheelbarrow is there tending to his garden. The boy complains to his mom, “Aw, mom I dont want to drink this. Look at Mr. Wilson, he is grown up and he says he never drinks milk” While in the course of saying this Mr. Wilson tries to pick up his wheelbarrow and his arms proceed to break off! And remarks, “This can’t be good.”
All of the sudden the kids are downing this milk like nobody’s business and even the mom is chugging from the carton…LOL.

First time I saw this I didnt think I’d ever stop laughing… 🙂

E\*Trade, and that commercial was often considered the Zenith of [dot.com](http://dot.com) arrogance in marketing.

After the bubble burst, E\*Trade had another SuperBowl commercial :
The same chimp, riding on his horse as mournful Western music is playing. He is in the dot-com ghost town - the ruined buildings of various fictional businesses are shown with tumbleweeds blowing around. A wrecking-ball smashes through one building and a dusty sock puppet (a reference to [Pets.com](http://Pets.com) commercials) lands in front of the chimp. A tear rolls down the chimp’s face as he rides off. The line at the end says, “Invest Wisely.”

The Oregon State Lottery had “Who Wants to Spend 30 Days in a Trailer with Mr. T?” as a parody of Reality TV game shows.

There was one I saw many years ago, it was a British(?) commercial for tennis balls. A group of the white lab-coated technicians standing on the roof of a building, making notes on clipboards as they drop tennis balls over the side. The announcer says something like, “We tested [our brand] tennis balls by dropping them off a 5-story building”. A white line painted along the building shows that all the [our brand] balls are bouncing to the same height. The announcer then says, “Next we tried the same with the competition.” Several of the technicians proceed to throw several of the other technicians off the building.

On of the anti-tobacco ads (part of their ‘only one product kills 1/3 of the people who use it’ series) was for “Splode!” a perfect parody of the Mountain Dew “XTreme sports”-style ads. In the ad, a bungie-jumper reaches for a falling can of Splode, but when she opens it, it explodes, true to its name.

Since I haven’t seen any US commercials in quite a while, I have to say my current faves are these deodorant commercials over here in Germany (I think it’s “Fa”). They’re stupid and mindless, but they have women taking their tops off and dancing in water with their jiggly bits dancing around. Hey…any straight guy or gay girl would agree!

Along similar lines, I absolutely love the Kodak ad where the little boy enlarges a picture of his grandma playing baseball, then asks her “can you still do this, grandma?”

Also, the minivan ad where the “soccer mom” is actually playing soccer herself.

I am a big fan of women’s sports!

E\*Trade - kewl.

Another of my favorites was for John Smith Brown Ale. I saw it at a theater as part of one of those “Great Commercials from Around the World”.

Two guys at a pub bar. One is looking down, off-camera, saying to an (unseen) dog, “Sit up!” “Roll over!” “Sit up!” The dog is obviously not doing anything.

Then the other guy leans over and says, “How about a drop of John Smith Brown Ale?” Suddenly the dog barks sharply, and music begins to play, and you see balls being juggled - the (unseen) dog is dancing and doing tricks. The second guy remarks, “All he needed was a bit of motivation.”

Or the extremely stern-looking banker type, who is sitting across his desk from a burned-out looking surfer type. The surfer is saying, “So, like, I don’t really have like a real job or anything, you know, but like your daughter and I are like, totally in love and stuff (cut to a shot of an innocent, fresh-faced young woman on the banker’s desk), and like, so I was thinking we could get married and like, move in and hang out with you! So, what do ya say?”

And the stern banker shrugs his shoulders and says, “Kewl!”

Be Young. Have Fun. Drink Pepsi.

Shodan

I’m not even sure WHAT this commercial is promoting (I thought it was a cruise line, boyfriend says a credit card company), but it starts out with a great drum beat…two guys are rock climbing, and one is hanging on to the other:
Guy #1: “Just go and save yourself man!”
Guy #2: “I’m NOT LEAVING WITHOUT YOU!!!”

Camera pans to girl standing with her hands on her hips, looking disgusted: “If you guys don’t knock it off, I’m gonna miss my massage!”

Camera pulls away, showing the two guys about two feet off the ground at a fake rock climbing wall on a cruise ship and the girl walking away shaking her head.

Makes me laugh every time (tho, to be honest, I tend to be easily amused:D )

Keeping in the [dot.com](http://dot.com) thread, two classics from [Outpost.com](http://Outpost.com) (I think).

-A narrator is talking about something while attempting to shoot hamsters out of a cannon through a target with a hole in the middle. He misses repeatedly.
-A narrator talks about commishing the local marching band to spell out [Outpost.com](http://Outpost.com). Shot of the band. Narrator: In order to make this more memorable we decided to release wolves on the marchers. Shots of wolves chasing after bandmembers. I especially remember a french horn player getting taken down. That’s what you get for not playing mellophone.

You see? This is what I hate about the SDMB. More often not, whenever I think of something to add, somebody else beats me to it!!!

Well, not all “Got Milk?” ads leave me ROTFL, and some are just average, I have yet to see a truly BAD one. My current fave is that “Omen” boy who warns everyone, “Don’t Eat The Cake”! (Can I download it anywhere?)

A Scandinavian ad that’s floating around the Internet:

A very conservative-looking, 40-ish couple and their two young daughters pile into the family car. Dad turns the key and the radio starts up, playing a dance tune that consists only of the line “I wanna fuck you in the ass” played over and over. Dad looks at the radio for a moment, then begins bopping back and forth rather stiffly. Cut to mom and the kids also bopping happily to the song. As the car pulls away, a caption at the bottom appears: “Wanna learn English?”

As an ESL teacher who’s been asked these kinds of questions by his students on many occasions, I loved it.

Another one:

In the supermarket. Kid picks up a bag of candy and puts it in the cart. Dad picks it up and puts it back on the shelf. Kid returns it to the cart, crosses his arms and frowns. Dad gets a stern look on his face and puts the candy back. Kid scrunches up his face and lets loose with "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNTTT CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! AAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE[sup]EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE[/sup]!!!, and runs screaming through the store flinging groceries from their shelves (cut to looks of horror on the other shoppers) until he collapses in a kicking, screaming, writhing heap on the floor. Cut to dad, who has a look of crushingly depressed resignation on his face.

Caption:

Gosh, for some reason I cannot remember any American ones, but a german teacher of mine showed me some of her favorites - one of which I love.

A man is being chased by a bunch of stereotypical “evil goons”. He looks really cool, drssed in black - sort of cross twixt James Bond and Neo. He climbs up this high cliff, and is trapped at the top while a bunch of goons come for him. (I’m thinking the film may have been made in America, due to the scenery).

Then he unzips a pocket on his shoe, and pulls on some small cord. A moment later we cut to a shot of him taking off from the mountain in a hangglider.

Totally pointless “feature”, but man the commercial was great. 🙂

UK: Blackcurrant Tango. “Sebastian, you’re an exchange student, aren’t you?” If I explain it I will make it sound crap. Sorry.

Reagrdign the “i wanna fuck you in the ass”, I have seen that and IIRC the text at the end makes it look more likely to have come from the Netherlands.

I’ve only seen this one a few times.

They show a family living in a static electricity house, all walking around in socks. A girl is reading by a lamp, the lamp starts to go dim and she rubs her feet on the carpet to make it brighter. Then the family is shuffling outside the bathroom when the dad yells “The water’s getting cold!” – they shuffle faster. Their hair is all standing up, and throughout the commercial, they all get sparked by doorknobs. The end shows the dad going to work with a sock stuck to his back.

The announcer comes on and tells us about better ways to conserve electricity, storm windows, etc.

Always makes me laugh!
