**gonzomax** I guess you consider “Journey To The Center of the Earth” a bad film? I don’t. Sure it is somewhat “corny” but it still is a good story. Oh and you have that quote wrong. _Buckaroo Banzai_ is a good movie; close to greatness, in its slice of genre. The Barefoot Contessa comes very close to being a great movie: it’s on a short list of my favorites, and includes an even better exchange than the one quoted above. When Bogart and O’Brien are trying to sell Ava Gardner on the idea of coming to America to be a star, they offer to bring her mother with her.\* “Every girl needs her mother,”\* they say. _“I don’t like my mother,”_ she says, establishing her character and totally winning the ‘negotiation.’ \*Snakes on a Plane \*is a BAAAAD movie, and the best line in it (quoted above) was written by a blogger, fchryssakes. ---

I was wrong, but it wasn’t a very bad 1980’s style B-movie, if you take it as that. The thing that did peeve me, though, is that what I predicted is exactly what would happen w/r/t the scenery - that it would look exactly like what LOTR _should_ have looked like - very European and subtle, which is exactly how I imagined the scenery in Tolkein’s books to look like (except for the Misty Mountains and the Shire, which looked like I had imagined them, oh, and Mordor, but I didn’t really like Mordor in the book, either.) I was hoping that _Eragon_ would be more, erm, “inspired” by the cinematography of LOTR because the epic, sweeping, huge igneous mountains and landscape seemed apprpriate to it, rather than to LOTR. So basically, they should have swapped filming locations. But I still contend that _Eragon_ was not the most horrible movie ever made, which is more than I can say for the book. I like the sparseness and one-off weirdness of some of the more quirky 1980’s B-movie fantasy films and this reminds me of them. ---

**Deathstalker II** is hands down my alltime favorite bad movie (if that makes any sense). My buddies and I saw it in high school when my friend got his wisdom teeth pulled and was out for a week. All he could do was watch movies and we were into D&D and fantasy action and whatnot, so he rented it, and we were cracking up for the entire time. Perfect movie for hischool boys - dumb comedy and loads of gratuitous nudity. My contribution to the thread: **I’m Gonna Get You Sucka** , not a great comedy, but it has a part where someone gets out of their car, and you hear the nice voice in the background: “Your door is ajar, please close the door.” “Your door is ajar, please close the door.” then someone screams “I saaaaaaaid, close the door! Shithead!” The voices are perfect. Makes me smile just thinking about it. ---

“Send more cops” from Return of the Living Dead, which I saw in a triple feature in a sleazy 24-hour theater in downtown LA back in the '80’s. Scariest part of the whole thing was when a rat ran over my (sandeled) feet during “House by the Cemetary”. This was on a date, mind you.
