Great Movies Worthy of Respect...

Two gasp Jim Carrey movies.

The Truman Show:

and

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

…actually, they were ‘recognized’ in that they generally got favorable reviews, I think **ETS **should have been a best picture contender for an Oscar. But it didn’t bank. Carrey one the Golden Globe for Truman, but wasn’t up for an Oscar.

Ace In the Hole

Directed (and written, natch!) by Billy Wilder starring Kirk Douglas at his mean best.

Wilder has stood the test of time pretty well, but this one seems to have been mostly forgotten. I read it was a flop at its time, too, but I find it riveting.

I just saw the new Coen Brothers movie “A Serious Man” and its amazing. But I haven’t heard much hype about it, and it’ll soon be leaving theaters.

The Coen Brothers make really good movies, some with high recognition, but I feel this one is probably their best movie since Raising Arizona.
