Great quirky stuff to see in/around Paris?

The Chataeu de Chenonceau would probably make a nice day trip and it is a really beautiful place.

I tried to go to the Gustave Moreau Museum when I was there but it was closed for remolding. It should be open now and after seeing a few works at the Musee d’Orsay I really wanted to go there.

Sadly, I found out earlier today that I will not, in fact, be going to Paris, because there is a largish blood clot in my leg. Which will probably resolve itself without harm, but it means that while I could go to Paris the old-fashioned way, by boat, or perhaps even by Zeppelin, I cannot travel in any sort of pressurized cabin.

I was incredibly angry for a few hours, and I’m still going to take the days - I have to, unfortunately, we have a use-them-or-lose-them policy - so that will be that. Paris, with luck, will still be there once this is taken care of. And I will bookmark this thread and thank everyone again for the advice.

See it that way : more time for you to plan the trip and have an even better time once you do go!!!
Hope you get better.

Hey Oxy, I find this place to be very charming, with a nice Parisian atmosphere. Maybe you should go there for dinner.

Oh well.

When you go, you may want to check out Pasteur’s home/museum. Sparsely attended, but it’s a great insight into a pioneer. The man kept everything he worked on.

I also liked the Gladiatorial arena in the Latin Quarter (L’arene de Lutece IIRC). It’s about 1800 years old.
