This. Exactly. I didn’t know that there even was a series until after I saw Serenity. And that was a couple of years after it came out.

Then, I was telling a buddy of mine (who is a big time Whedon fan) about how I was bummed that there’ll be no more adventures of Cpt Reynolds and he told me to watch Buffy and Angel. I was quite dubious. Why would a 30 YO guy want to watch a show about high schoolers chasing vampires?

Yup, watched every season of both shows. I never watched them at all when they were actually one the air.

Except for the time I thought I was tuning in for Dark Angel because that chick is hawt and accidentally tuned into some show about a broody vampire with a soul that I didn’t bother giving a chance.

I’d never seen an episode of **[Spaced](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaced)**, from the writer and director of **Shaun of the Dead** and **Hot Fuzz** until I was given the first series on DVD. That was a good present.

Another predictable mention for **Firefly** , which I’d never even heard of until **Serenity** was released.
