Its a shame **Thylacine**. Its a fucking shame. I’ve got a couple of sisters-in-law (read couple) who both emigrated to Texas from British Columbia. they both return periodically to renew visas. Just a thought, but one option is to fine a sympathetic single guy who might enter into a temporary marriage with your lover. ---

**Ryle** you are aware that your suggestion goes very much against the law I hope? That is not to be taken lightly, even if it were the penalties are large for all involved and there is much to be done to get through immigration that makes it a bit more complicated than a side trip to vegas. Stuff it up anywhere along the line and lose all chance of a future together. I also have no desire to marry anyone but my love! Why should we have to skulk in the shadows watching over our shoulders for the sin of loving eachother and wishing to be together openly and legally? ---

Have you considered the Diversity Visa program? Australians qualify for a shot at US permanent resident status if they have a high school education or work experience. It’s not likely that it would work, as there are only 50,000 slots, but it’s a shot… ---

entered every year **elfbabe**. Seriously folks, lawyers, lotteries, marrying random strangers… all has been looked into from all angles and we cannot make it work for us. I know other couples do manage it but we can’t with our personal circumstances. We are not alone. The whole point is that we could if we were straight, no skullduggery involved. ---

I know how you feel, **Thylacine**. I lost my former sweetie for the same reason (except I’m a Canuck and she was a 'merricun). The thing that made me the most angry was discovering that there existed “fiance” visas. I mean, if the US will accept half of a het couple that is not yet married, on what grounds to they justify excluding half of a 'mo couple who isn’t yet married? Either extend visas to people for spousal reasons, or don’t. Do away with that namby-pamby “fiance” bullshit. It was so infuriating that something as arbitrary and trivial as gender could make a difference like that. ---
