The scariest thing – in a larger-than-life horror movie “shocking” sense – that I’ve seen that happened in real life was watching a documentary on invasive Asian Carp. The documentarist and a researcher were in a small boat in a fairly small pond, _maybe_ the size of a football field. The researcher was talking about how Asian Carp are extremely sensitive to electrical stimulation, and held an electrical current device into the water. Not enough to kill any fish, but enough to annoy just the Asian Carp in the seemingly placid water. And hundreds of Asian Carp simultaneously jumped out of the water instantaneously! Almost every square foot of the previously glassy water was broken by jumping carp. And the pair of humans were just standing in the boat a few seconds previously, the viewers unaware of the mass of writhing fish lurking underneath.
