Best thing in the movie, and you spoil it for everyone who haven’t seen it yet!

Well, my favorite would have to be Hannibal Lecter at the end of The Silence of the Lambs. He says “I do wish we could chat longer, but I’m having an old friend for dinner… bye…”

Also, “I’m going to go home and sleep with my wife!” and “Mrs. Peacock was a MAN?!” both said by Mr. Green in Clue. (I love that movie)

DRY, I loved Planet of the Apes, so I hope you don’t mind if I step in with the whole quote Taylor(Charlton Heston) made, when he realized where he was.

"Oh my God. I’m back, I’m home! All the time…they finally, REALLY did it! You maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you, God damn you all to Hell.

Heston once said he couldn’t believe that there was flak for wanting to use God in front of the damn, but the line taken was that Taylor was not CUSSING but cursing, calling down God’s wrath upon whoever it had been who brought disaster.

Well, it’s Kane’s last line. 😃

Actually, it’s something like the _first_ line of the movie. If I remember correctly, the opening shot is of Kane’s mansion, then it zooms in, cuts to the interior, and shows him on his deathbed. Then he rasps out “Rosebud” and drops the snowglobe.

Understand that I’ve never seen the whole movie, just the first part, and that several years ago.

Baker,I don’t mind at all! I **thank** you for posting the entire quote. I was trying to find it, but couldn’t.

On a related note, I loved it on MST3K when one of the robots (Crow?) does his Charlton Heston impression: “A planet where apes evolved from men?!?”

It definitely wasn’t quoted until **2010**. I think the last line in 2001 happened something like 20 minutes before the movie ended - Hal singing, followed by the taped message informing the crew about the monolith.

Also, the last line in **Bladerunner** (“It’s a pity she won’t live. But then, who does?”) wasn’t in the director’s cut, so I’m not sure that counts.

Don’t you hate it when you correct someone and have nothing of your own to add? Oh well…

Exact closing line: “Throw that junk in.” (referring, of course, to the first line of the film, quoted above)

That last part of ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ pissed me off, because it was not in the book, because it pandered to people’s desire to see all the bad guys get theirs, and because it was totally out of character for Lecter. In the book when he contacts Clarice he takes exceptional measures to not give her any clue as to where he might be. Lecter would probably go after Chilton eventually, but not so soon after his escape.

I wasn’t entirely sure mine was right. I got it from one of the online script sites. They decided to shorten it for the movie, apparently. Who can blame them?

I have to add, I’ve always loved in \*\* Ferris Bueller’s Day Off \*\* where Ferris comes up after the credits and tells you to buzz off and go home.
