Love scene with Bert Lancaster and Debra Kerr in From Here To Eternity, making out on the beach with the waves coming up over them.
:dubious:
The Quiet Man, when Sean Thorton comes home to find Kate Danaher in his cottage, tidying it up for his arrival, and grabs her by the wrist and kisses her.
And again, later on in the graveyard, in the pouring rain.
Frankie & Johnny. It’s kind of a dreary, gray movie. But when they finally kiss, it’s in front of a flower truck, with the door thrown dramatically open in a glorious burst of color. It’s a great visual.
The scene in Phenomenon where Kyra Sedgwick is shaving John Travolta’s face and cutting his hair…and then she asks him if the shave was close enough, and he says, “you tell me…”
The final scene in Bull Durham…beginning with the kitchen table…
Some great scenes. I had forgotten Ghost. Quite a few of the movies I haven’t seen (sadly, I seem to watch movies from before 1950).
I’ll add one more- Intermezzo.
Of all the Hughsian '80s teen movies, my favorite is Some Kind of Wonderful. The scene where Keith give Watts the earrings she helped him pick out for Amanda Jones…le sigh.
And the kissing “lesson” is still one of the hottest kisses ever caught on film!
Another vote for *Ghost. *Way ahead of whatever’s in second place.
a two-parter. Rhett grabs Scarlett and carries her struggling up the stairs, into the darkness.
Then, the next morning, when she’s singing to herself and stretching luxuriously in the bed.
I don’t have to name the movie in this one!
Oh, hell yes. A great, great scene. Parodied in E.T., of all places.
The swimming pool scene from Showgirls.
The backstage scene with the violinist from The Red Violin.
…
What?
Oh, this isn’t, pointless and unbelievable sex scenes in movies?
Ok, then. Uh, I nominate Rear Window, the scene where Grace Kelly finds Jimmy Stewart asleep.
In Pleasantville when Margaret explains to Bud that she baked the oatmeal cookies for him.
I loved the scene in V For Vendetta, when Evey is reading Valerie’s letter. Valerie says, “For three years, I had roses and apologized to no one.”
The scene in It’s a Wonderful Life where George is at Mary’s house and he’s just walked out in a huff because he’s upset and then their friend calls and they both get on the phone with their faces practically touching and he’s just so annoyed and angry but then his passion gets the better of him and he’s kissing her and she’s crying.
Sounds like a porno I saw called* Boned with the Wind*.
In that light, *Deep Throat *and *Behind the Green Door *both had romantic endings.
I kinda prefer the honeymoon. “There’ll be no locks or bolts between us, Mary Kate.”
Open Range, at the doorway and then, especially, in the garden.
Ditto this. The whole premise is incredibly heartbreaking.
Nah… none of that! Love is not silly, my friend.
Lone Star. The conversation in front of the jukebox.
“It’s beyond my control.”
“It’s beyond my control.”
“It’s beyond my control.”
It’s romantic but simultaneously completely tragic and fucked up.
It must be 20 years since I saw that movie, jjimm. About time I get it again.
