Green groundcover ID help (pics)

Please tell me there is a hammock somewhere in your yard!

That ain’t plantain. Plantain flowers look like little fuzzy pinecones.

It’s some sort of dandelion relative, likely.

The picture is hawkweed. It most deffinately is not a plantian.

You’re right; the OP does have plantains as well though (how could this not be the case in a lawn like this?) - visible in the second picture (this one: http://usera.imagecave.com/vetbridge/grass2.JPG )

It’s in the sunflower family. There are a lot of wild yellow flowers in the sunflower family including the dandelion. I know a spot along a road where you can see compass plants, they are impressive. They have large flat leaves, and grow like a dandelion, except bigger. The plants are a prarie native species that have to grow some years to bloom. A flower stalk grows up many feet and the top gets multiple flowers on the top. The stalk sticks up 3 to 12 feet. and the flowers are about 3 inches in diameter.

I was expecting to see some pussytoes in there.

Thanks for the second two pictures; the first of them made me relax, again, i don’t know why; the second is a cute dog.

The dog looks nearly completely happy (which is one of the two standard Dog modes*) but a little anxious - was she waiting for you to stop taking the damn picture and throw the ball?

(*The other standard Dog mode is “Off”.
“Unhappy”, while totally possible, is NOT a standard Dog mode)

Unfortunately for our visitors, not anymore. I hate to say it, but we’re really not hammock people. We’re more the “plastic chair around the fire” types.
