# Green Saliva?

My daughter on occasion eats salted in the shell sunflower seeds. She spits the shells out, and after about 15 minutes, the discarded shells turn green. I presume this is from her saliva, and oxidation. Any possible idea why, or have you ever heard of such a thing before?
