Yes, it seems the eruption is over. But looks can be deceiving. The official rule of thumb is three months of inactivity and it’s officially over. But I think in the 1960s Kilauea started up again shorty after a three-month lull. So you never know.

Mauna Loa last erupted less than 35 years ago, from 3/24 to 4/15/84.

Well, some guy tried to appease the volcano.

Today is the one-year anniversary of the big eruption.
