I remember watching an ep or two last season, and then bailing out…but I couldn’t remember why. Then after being bombarded with “CODE BLACK!!!” promos that made it look more like “24”, (and noticing the awards for Sandra Oh) I decided to give it a shot. And then in the last 2 minutes, I remembered why I bailed: the overbearing music on top of the closing scene. But up to that point, it was pretty good. ---

I think I saw something like that in one of the “Lethal Weapon” movies. But it was a cop on a toilet with a bomb underneath. But the bomb they have is used as an anti-tank weapon- that’s pretty tough stuff it’s supposed to explode. Do they make anti-bomb blankets that strong? If it turns out that they made the bomb wrong and it’s not active, I think I may have to kill the writers for the sudden letdown. ---

Whether or not they made the bazooka shell right, I can’t figure up how it ended up in the orientation shown on the x-ray. The guy was facing the bazooka to look at it, the shell went in his side, and then it ends up nose-up, tail-down? It went in, stopped, and did a 90°? ---

I missed most of it but I saw the end. All I could think during the Izzy/Alex scene was “Hello! Syphilis!”. ---

Meh. Meredith is doing it because she’s self-destructive and a drunk. The rest of them know their partners and, while they might be wrong, are not unreasonable in thinking that they’re clean. Also, Izzy knows that Alex just got his syphillis cured. –Cliffy ---

Back to the bazooka (always wanted to say that) Is it legal to build your own bazooka shells? I would somehow think that Federal and State laws would look down upon private citizens making large explosives. Wouldn’t the stupid friend be complicit in a crime for helping the guy make such an idiotic thing? ---

Cristina had an unplanned pregnancy while she was doing her residency. That would have been a big problem for her if w didn’t have the convenient and ever-popular miscarriage plot device. Izzy knows Alex just got his syph cured, but wouldn’t that squick you out just a little? I think all these doctors having unprotected sex are idiots. It’s obviously a pervasive problem considering the syph and pregnancy story lines. Are we supposed to think all these people, including Burke, are just really foolish about sex? ---

I had never seen the show before, but the previews were being all secretive about what was going to happen, with the doctor telling the nurse in hushed tones to “declare a Code Black.” Somebody at the Superbowl party I attended said “What’s a Code Black?” “Zombies,” I said. Now wouldn’t the show have been much cooler if it HAD been zombies? “Of course we have a zombie contingency plan! It’s extremely unlikely, but we don’t want to get caught with our pants down!” And come on, you want to see Zombie Christina Ricci cracking open skulls and feasing on the delicious goo within, don’t you? ---

Think about how many people were lined up for the syph test… ALL of those people were there because they had unprotected sex with someone else in the hospital. There were dozens, including McDreamy. None of them used protection, or didn’t use it consistently one would have to conclude, for it to get around to so many. I don’t know how you know this with any certainty. We never see or hear anyone talk about protection. They just rip each other’s clothes off, then go at it. Then, they get syph or pregnant, just like a bunch of idiots. \*\*BiblioCat’s \*\* right-- it’s just because people want to see cute folks screwing, and talking about protection isn’t entertaining. However, it has affected my enjoyment of the show, knowing all these people behave less responsibly than the average teenager WRT sex. ---

Didn’t Christina and Burke go at it after a surgery while they were still in scrubs? Unless the hospital scrubs come with a standard issue condom pocket\*, I think we have to assume that they were not prepared. \*If they don’t have one they should certainly institute one. ---

Remember, Burke and Cristina were both in the syphilis line, and then got out of it when they told each other the other had nothing to worry about; they hadn’t been sleeping around. Who knows - the only place I can see a hospital actually having condoms would be in a clinic off the ER. You know, the type of place they open for indigent residents of the area, not horny residents of the hospital.
