Ahh, but the sheer, accidental genius of “Massive Headwound Harry,” is that the dog got a bit overzealous and started to _gnaw_ on Dana Carvey’s wounded scalp. If you look carefully, you can see Carvey valiantly trying to hold on to his flesh wound lest the beast _tear it off_ and run away to feast upon it. YUM! ---

Has anyone mentioned the gremlin in the microwave yet? Starship Troopers has a ton of gross-out scenes. The brain-sucking scene was really gross, though not as graphic as some of the other scenes. ---

Oh yeah, The Fly with Jeff Goldblum…the fingernails, the vomit slurping, the compound fractures, the final transformation, the monster’s demise…all incredibly gross. ---

In the Fly, when he was arm wrestling that guy and he snapped the other guy’s arm…made me cringe for a looooong time. Though stuff like vomiting/bleeding doesn’t usually faze me. Even when I saw Aliens for the first time as a child, seeing Biship getting impaled by the queen alien, then _ripped in two_ didn’t gross me out. I gave an :eek: at first, but my dad explained, “don’t worry, he’s just a robot” ---

I was watching a “Best of Dana Carvey” on Comedy Central and as soon as I saw that sketch come up, I had to change the channel. (I _was_ eating, after all…) I know South Park is supposed to be gross but there are certain episodes I just can’t stomach. (All right, that’s not gratitous…well it is, but you can’t really complain about that, I know.) Anything with Mr. Hanky, and that episode where Kenny keeps trying to abort the fetus his mom is carrying, but his dad gets the brunt of it. ---

i’m not offended by gross stuff, but i am offended by the gratuitous use of it. like when someone is barfing, i know that they are barfing without seeing it stream out of someone’s mouth. the first thought to cross my mind was helter skelter ,with the dork in one of the early scenes. blowing up limbs and bodies in war movies is something that one should expect. massive headwound harry isn’t gratuitous even tho i get queasy when i think of it. it isn’t uncalled for. rob roy kind of went overboard on the washing up biz. one expects that after a rape this kind of thing would happen. i think that rr’s director didn’t have a lot of good stuff to make the movie a certain length so they add this sort of scene. they can justify it with calling it ‘realism’, and when someone objects they can act like they are avante garde trendsetter martyrs. if the movie hadn’t been so boring elsewhere, maybe it could have been overlooked.
