There is a radio commercial around here for the lottery that contains a way-too-graphic little drama concerning a man finding that the office container of milk has gone rotten and deciding to put it in his coffee anyway. “Lottery commercial?” you ask. I think the idea is that compared to some other things spending a dollar on a lottery ticket isn’t a big risk. No, it doesn’t make much sense to me, either. ---

Unquestionably, the one for some kind of laundry detergent, where a guy is diving into his bed, only to be suspended in mid-air while we see what the seemingly-clean white sheets really are: a graphically illustrated cesspool of slime and green goo and rancid rotting sludge. There’s a Burger King commercial (I think it’s the “Two Cheeseburges for $2”) where the voiceover is talking, extolling the virtues of Burger King cheeseburgers, _around a mouthfull of food!_ Completely disgusting. I don’t mind food commercials showing me people eating food and enjoying it, but I don’t want to hear the slurping, smacking noises like the damned microphone is right there in the person’s mouth, right along with the food! ---

The commercial I hated was quite simple but what it implied I found utterly revolting. It hasn’t been on in a while but it went something like this. There’s a full roll of toilet paper, on the screen flashes “Monday” then “Tuesday” the asswipe is still untouched. Then “Wednesday” then “Thursday” (as if you haven’t figured out the obvios pattern) All the while the paper is still full. Cue ad for some brand of laxative (forgot which one) then on “Friday” the roll starts spinning wildly. Blech. ---

There’s a local one that runs around here for some kind of rain gutter something or other. I think it’s called Gutter Guard. The commercial starts by showing a rain gutter full of swampy, disgusting dead leaves and bugs. Really nasty stuff. Then, it overflows and a little sludgy drop drips over the side and down into the homeowner’s glass of water he’s just about to drink on the patio below. Ick. Slightly off-topic but not worthy of its own thread: I hate that commercial for antimicrobial Kleenex (or whatever it is) that shows the poor sick kid coming home from school and being locked out of his own house by his entire family until he uses one of those tissues. What the hell are they trying to say with that commercial? Buy our product if you are horribly obsessed about cleanliness and care more about getting rid of germs than letting your own sick kid sit out in the cold? ---

I gotta go with commercials for Fear Factor that show people eating gross stuff. I mean, yo, you can watch Fear Factor, if that’s your thing, really, and I won’t even look down on you for it. But _I_ don’t want to watch Fear Factor. And I definitely don’t want to watch what is, IMHO, the most objectionable _part_ of Fear Factor, and I definitely don’t want to watch it at _dinner time_ when they show the ads! I don’t care if you: - Make a program about people eating gross stuff. - Show commercials about your program alluding to the fact that people eat gross stuff on the program. - Show commercials that show us the gross stuff that people are _going_ to eat on your program. Hell, I don’t even object too strenously to showing people actually _eating_ the gross stuff, as long as you wait until after, say, eight o’clock! But when I sit down with a nice plate of spaghetti to watch _Simpsons_ or _King of the Hill_, I would really prefer not to be subjected to people eating a plate of live worms, m’kay? ---

I gotta go with the office workers dancing for Pepto Bismol. You know, the one where they grab their ass while singing about diarrhea. There was a laxitive commerical a few years back which consists of a thre successive shots of a roll of toilet paper, labeled “Monday”, “Tuesday”, and “Wednesday,”. Then they show the product. Then, on “Friday” somebody (offscreen) pulls a couple of hundred feet of paper, making the roll spin merrily. Kinda gross. ---

there’s one that plays in Denver for septic tank cleaners. it shows these enzymes animated as little pacmen going down the drain to the septic tank and eating poop. wonderful. thank you so much. maybe we can make this commercial into a video game? ---

For the antibiotic hand cleaner, it _is_ MC Hammer singing “Can’t touch this,” while the riff sampled from “Superfreak” is playing. I can’t believe no one has mentioned that SciFi channel promo where the guy blows into a dog’s ass and it expands like a balloon. Why would anyone even think of blowing into a dog’s ass? (And no, that’s _not_ an invitation for a link to the dog-a-lingus thread!) ---

I vote for the beer commercial where they moved the dip under the bug zapper to make room for the beer. Then the hostess was asked what were the crunchy things in the dip and a guest smiled to reveal a mouthful of bugs stuck between her teeth.
