And his deceased father-in-law gave his name to a grouch…
Yeah, but that came up during the election. Shortly after he took office, he married Frances. Since she was young and pretty, she drew the public’s attention.
It’s funny. We think of the late 1800s as a much more staid time. But voters seemed to have no issue with looking past Cleveland’s personal life and credited him with his professional accomplishments. Kind of like Bill Clinton, I guess.
The public also loved Frances. That she was only 21, and sort of raised by Garfield, doesn’t seem to have mattered. If anything, it was seen as romantic.
Grover Cleveland was an asshole!
Andrew Jackson says “hold my beer.”
I don’t think that Andrew Jackson ever told anyone to hold his beer while he did something stupid. He’s the sort who would be chugging while doing the stupid thing.
Well, the Oval Office wasn’t built until much later. So, Google is certainly correct.
Don’t compare my beloved Janice to Trump!
She is elegant, well spoken, beautiful… and, well, yes, orange.
But naturally orange.
