# Growing avocados

Bananas have long been grown near La Conchita, California at the [Seaside Banana Farm](http://www.silcom.com/~odell/gathering/dream.html). La Conchita apparently is the site of a rare microclimate that is perfect for growing bananas. In the winter of 1995, heavy rains and mudslides cuased heavy damage to the farm, but the owner is rebuiding nearby. He has registered the domain name [http://www.bananafarm.com](http://www.bananafarm.com), but as yet, there is no site there yet.

Sorry, [bananafarm.com](http://bananafarm.com) is a resort in Hawaii; [bananagarden.com](http://bananagarden.com) is the Seaside Banana Farm site (which doesn’t exist yet!).
