Does dad believe that two persons with equal rights can occupy the same body?
Because making a decent moral calculus might involve respecting the choice made by the entity with the main claim to that body.

Dad has argued that the Violinist Hypothetical is generally invalid, as having sex can be construed as consent to having someone else borrow your life functions for nine months.

Dad isn’t sure where he stands on rape, since abortion in that case seems to him (his words) as “executing your brother because you shot a guy”, even though it invalidates the consent argument handily.

If I can jump in here, my dad. He’s anti-abortion (except in cases of fetal deformity or danger to the mother–in the former case, if the fetus can’t eventually survive as a person then it’s no different than a tumor, in the latter case it’s the same as any other decision between the lives of two people and you can’t make a decent moral calculus), anti-war, anti-death-penalty, anti-terror-attacks-on-abortion-clinics,** pro-contraceptive**I can disagree with that, but it’s pretty unambiguously pro-life.

I image he is against contraceptives that prevent uterine implantation, like the Pill and IUD’s.

How does he feel about gay adoption? Most anti-aborts I know only think children should be adopted by the "right’ people.

Gotta love our dads, and as I recall my dad got upset when he realized I’d figured out that all pregnancies were not the result of devout prayers sent to Jesus by happily married couples. Very old school.
