Somebody scanned in a UK magazine review of GTA IV. Not sure if it’s ok to post, so I’ll break the link: [http://www.gtagaming](http://www.gtagaming). com/forums/showthread.php?p=1772627 Some points I took away from the review (10/10 by the way): -Damage to the city remains static -People remember you, hold grudges, etc. -If you draw a gun people call the police -If you damage the siren on a police car it sounds distorted -If you shoot someone driving a vehicle, they can slump over the steering wheel and actually run you over if you’re not careful -Multiplayer modes, and it uses the same city with all the details that single player has -Apparently there’s a working Internet in the game that ties to the real Internet Everything I read seems to rave about the attention to detail, storyline, and anti-hero appeal of the main character too. He’s an ex-soldier from an Eastern Eurpoean country. I don’t buy many games when the first come out, but GTA games are one of my few must-haves. This one is looking epic. ---

The more I read about GTA4 the more I think it’s the first game that really deserves to be called “next gen.” Now if I can ever get around to cracking open that sealed copy of San Andreas that’s been sitting on my shelf forever… ---

Sigh…well, I said a year ago that I wasn’t going to buy a PS3 until there was a GTA4 to go along with it. Time to break down and get one. Trouble is, there’s buying the PS3, and then buying the game, but then there’s also the HDTV I’ll need for my office. I mean, I can’t spend all day in the living room playing, and the crappy old 19-incher in here isn’t going to cut it for this game. Huh…looks like I’m going to have to shell out, what, somewhere between 1,200 and 1,500 bucks just to play one fricking videogame. That’s the kinda realization that would _almost_ make me think twice about going for it. ---

I was planning on buying an XBox360 to play GTA IV, but instead I bought a PS3 when Blu-Ray won. Either way, I’m set. ---

After reading the linked articles, all I have to say is **wow**. Just… wow. This looks to be so far above and beyond even my incredibly high expectations that it’s unreal! I am a _huge_ GTA fan, and I have been waiting for this game for four and a half years. Yeah, it’s really been that long since San Andreas came out, amazingly. October of 2003. I’m just… geez. I’m so excited that I can’t find any sort of adequate words. I never get like this about video games! **THIRTEEN DAYS, BABY! WHOO HOO!** I’ve already scheduled myself off work for the 29th. Also, I hate to say this, but if a pirated copy hits the Internet before it hits the street, I know I won’t be able to resist. I mean, I’ll still buy the game when it does come out, but this waiting is killing me! ---

Self-nitpick: Whoops. Make that three and a half years since San Andreas. It came out in October of _2004_. ---

Oh man. This and Metal Gear Solid 4 are going to make me break down and get a PS3. I will not buy a PS3 until a get a job. I will **NOT** by a PS3 until I get a job. _cries_ ---

Rockstar has been fairly secretive about GTA IV, only cut scenes and fly-bys have been shown. People were desparate just to see what the HUD looked like, you can see it a little in the article linked to in my original post. The HUD looks very minimalist, small map in the lower left and small weapon and ammo count in the upper right. ---

It’s only coming out on PS3 and XBox360, so I’d imagine that will put a damper on the mod scene. Although there is supposed to be official downloadable extra content available. I guess that’s a good thing. Not sure. ---

So, this is the ultimate sandbox, where you can do ANYTHING you like, eh? Man, I wish this was coming to the Wii… like that would ever happen. Still, how about a souped up version of Vice City, with remote dictated chainsaw swinging? Might Happen. I loved Vice city, it was JUST the right size. I got a little too swamped in San Andreas… ever feel that where there’s SO much to do, you end up doing nothing? I spent days just taking a motorcycle and a parachute to the top of the tallest building, riding out then throwing the chute. Bliss. Gets you nowhere in the game, but still. I had to stop playing San Andreas in the end, when it dawned on me that I was doing more things in-game (like going to the gym) than I was in real life. Clincher was, though, when I realised that I was forgoing my life, where I could do and be anything I set my mind to, I chose sit around playing a videogame for hours… and not only that, but in this game, where I could do and be anything I set my mind to, I chose to go into the in-game arcade and play videogames for hours. I mean, thats all kinds of fucked up right there. So, when they say that GTA4 has its own internet… does it have its own message boards? It’s own GTASDMB? Does my avatar own a PS3?
