On a side note, unless they’ve CGed abs onto Chris Pratt, it looks like he got some training sessions from Hugh Jackman recently. ---

Hmmm… He actually did give up beer for 3 months but also worked out a ton. He says he didn’t diet much other than the beer thing. The joke reference was to his Parks & Rec character who explained his sudden weight loss in-show on just stopping drinking beer. ---

I like Rocket, but honestly, he doesn’t impress me all that much. We know what raccoons look like, and they’re already close enough in shape to humans to make the anthropomorphism relatively straightforward. What impresses me is Groot. We _don’t_ know what a walking, talking tree looks like, which makes one a real test for the designers. Which they passed. He looks like a tree, and he looks like a person. I think they did a better job on him even than the Ents in Jackson’s LotR. ---

The star power of Tim Allen not equally box office gold!? In all seriousness, I really liked Galaxy Quest when I saw it years later on HBO, but it was marketed as a Tim Allen family movie. Which is exactly why my demo never bought a ticket. ---

_Galaxy Quest_ is a wonderful movie, one of the very few that I never tire of seeing. But it failed to fire commercially. Ditto _Pluto Nash_, _Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy_, _Flash Gordon_ and _SpaceBalls_. I know nothing about the comic strip, and for all I know - because let;s face it, it’s impossible to tell from the trailer - the movie could be the hottest thing since fish grew legs. But space action comedy is a hard sell at the box office, and I wouldn’t bet the farm on this one making a fortune. ---
