I have a zero day work week. Iā€™m home all week. Only Iā€™m not. Weā€™re flying to Las Cruces (well, El Paso technically, but then we drive to Las Cruces) on Wednesday morning to do the turkey day thing with BSMFā€™s fambly. I think weā€™re going to see Carlsbad Caverns while weā€™re there. And eat a bunch of green chiles. Yum. ---

Itā€™s people paying bills online. Itā€™s interest calculations on savings accounts and car loans. Donā€™t forget PayPal, bank wires, mortgages and yes, good old paper checks. ---

Iā€™m working Thanksgiving and probably Friday and part of the weekend after that. I have a headache and cramps right now and I really hate insurance companies. My insurance company sent me a letter last week DEMANDING that I go to an appointment on tuesday afternoon at 4pm for an ā€œIndependent Medical Examā€\* for the treatment from my whiplash injury at the end of June. \*_This is an insurance company term which means ā€œWe know that youā€™ve paid us beaucous bucks on premiums for an insurance policy but we are tired of paying for your doctor appointments because we want to keep some of that money for our greedy little shareholders who are already stinking rich and we really donā€™t give a shit if youā€™re still in pain or not so we paid this guy who says heā€™s a doctor but apparently doesnā€™t see patients for any other reason other than when insurance companies pay him to see them and so weā€™ve paid him to say youā€™re all better whether you are or not, so if you refuse to go we can still refuse to pay for your doctor because you are being all suspicious by refusing are sweet DEMAND that we scheduled at the worst possible time for you, so basically either way youā€™re screwed - bend over a little more for us and donā€™t forget to pay your premium on time next month.ā€_ So of course Tuesday afternoon is the only time I canā€™t get out of work because I have to pick up the payroll at 4:30pm. So I called several times last week to try and get this appt changed. I got no responses from the doctorā€™s office or the company that sent the letter. I finally spoke to someone today and they said they tried to reschedule with the same doctor or a different doctor but no luck. I said well itā€™s really unfair of you to DEMAND I see a doctor at a certain time and not give me any opportunity to change it when it is inconvenient for me. I said I would go at 4pm but I would leave at 4:30pm regardless of where I was in the appt. Thereā€™s really no point in me being there anyway since heā€™s going to say Iā€™m fine and donā€™t need any more treatment, it wouldnā€™t matter if I crawled into his office with my head on backwards. I hate insurance companies. Insurance companies are why we need so many lawyers. And lawyers are why we need insurance companies. Itā€™s a vicious circle. ---
