Well clearly in my infinite wisdom I have misspelled my username. I tried to click on the profile of a mod to email him or her to see about getting it changed, but no luck. How does a guest contact a mod? Or, in addition to my failed potential as an editor, have I overlooked some other way to get there? ---

Well, if you came in through the main Straight Dope page, TubaDiva’s email address ([TubaDiva@aol.com](mailto:TubaDiva@aol.com)) is listed in the instructions on sending Threadspotting & Weird Earl nominations–but if you didn’t you wouldn’t see that, and since you’re new, it’s not completely clear that she’s also a Board Admin just from that listing on the homepage. Anyway, I reported your post, with an explanation that you need the spelling fixed, so once she gets that, it should be taken care of. See, I made my post too long and everyone beat me to it. ---

Heh. This reminds me of when Cheez\_Whia joined the board. She’d meant that final “a” to be a “z” but, as she bashfully told us, messed it up in her excitement at joining. We persuaded her to keep her name as is – way more fun. Wheeeeeee-ah! ---

Georgette was late for work and she put her face on in a hurry. She was already out the door and down the street before she noticed in the rear view mirror that she’d put her nose on off-center and sideways. It was partly on her left cheek. She cursed, “Oh fiddlesticks!” (this isn’t the Pit) It was too late to fix now. The light had turned green and cars were honking. When she got to work most people pretended hard not to stare, but she heard a few sniggers near the fax machine. She picked up the phone for an emergency appointment at the salon to get her nose put on straight, but Betty and Tim had overheard. They came to talk her out of it. “I like your new look,” said Betty. “It’s… daring. Edgy. It makes a statement.” “Yeah,” chorused Tim. “Please don’t change it! We admire you for daring to be different!” “Besides,” Betty pleaded, “Everybody here puts their face on the old boring way. It’s fun to have someone who doesn’t care about where her nose goes!” Georgette looked in her compact mirror and sighed. “Well, that’s nice of you to say so, but I’m not here for your fun. I’d rather look like everybody else.” She went to the salon and when she came back her off-kilter appearance was no longer a topic of discussion. Good, she thought, I’d rather be appreciated for my brains and wit than for an accidental feature displacement. ---
