Firstly, I would like to congradulate you, not for winning, but actually taking time to think about it. There are way too many former lottery multi-millionaires.
As others had said, consulting with a [probate] lawyer and a tax accountant would be best step.
Don’t tell them anything until you’ve formally become their client, as only then will they be legally bound to help you.
Don’t decide on whether to get the lump sum or annuity until you speak to an accountant in your state.
Try to minimise changes in your lifestyle for at least the first few years and **don’t ****donate **or spend too much money. If you were saving for something before the win, buy only that, or something only slightly more expensive.
Don’t quit your job, just scale back the hours, DO NOT buy your company or tell your boss about your win.
Too many people win the lottery and think just because they have a lot of money, they are “rich”. You are used to your old life, and you’ld be happier if you lived it with none of the money worries of before. Trying to immediately step into the shoes of the rich will just make your life almost as sucky as being poor. There is always someone richer than you, and there is always something you can’t afford.
In other words, remove more worries from your current life, rather than give into greed or reactive generousity.
