I did a “bloody great essay,” to quote\*\* Small Clanger\*\* (I think that’s a good thing), in [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=513411)on tube amps. Gibson, in their online newletter, has a solid article on the topic [here](http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/Features/gibson-tone-tips-40-1230/Default.aspx)- thought some Dopers might be interested… ---
