nu, what is the water temp. off georgia and the carolinas? i enjoy the computer models. while most show about the same track, there are always those wild and wacky computers. one shows it turning hard west and heading toward michigan. michigan!! what are the temps of the lakes these days? one shows it ziping up the east coast and bouncing off of cape cod. water is a bit chilly up this way. ---

We just got what I think was a feeder band a while ago. Not much, a few load thunder claps. But in honor of Ernestito I made an ice cream sandwhich with chocolate chip cookies, fudge brownie ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and cherries. Might have some wine later if there is enough noise to keep me awake. ---

My family down in Miami boarded up the house today, and they have plenty of supplies. They said they were getting minimal rain earlier this evening, but they’re not panicking. I figure we’ll get some good rain in Orlando tomorrow afternoon, and since my job involves a lot of driving and walking around the downtown area, I’d just as soon not be out in it. Luckily, I have the kind of part-time job I can show up as I please at any time during the week, so I might wait for Thursday if things are looking calmer. ---

God, I hate Disney. Called the weather line to find out if I’d have to go open the store tomorrow and not only did they say yes, they actually sounded surprised that I’d ask. On the morning Charlie showed up I barely got home before my house was engulfed in 60 mph winds. I’m not playing this game again- if it gets ugly, I’m outta there. ---

Raining gently on my way into work in the I-4 Maitland Center area. We’ve got some ice, gas, and water at the house but I don’t think I’m gonna have to put that pot roast I’m planning for dinner on hold. ---

Be safe Floridopers. I was in Miami Monday morning for work. The place I was at is a county government entity. All county offices got word that they were closed as of two p.m. Monday and to not report to work Tuesday and probably Wednesday. Thus, I had to leave. Since I couldn’t get a flight from Miami to Tallahassee until late Monday afternoon (I drove down to Tallahassee and flew to Miami), TPTB told me to keep my rental car and drive. So, I went up the turnpike (had to stop for gas at a service plaza and waited for over an hour to get to a pump!) and got as far as Ocala Monday evening before stopping for the night. I drove on to Tallahassee yesterday to get my vehicle. Fun two days! Here’s hoping **BoBettie** and all the other south Floridopers are ok. ---

Jim Cantore called Ernesto an underachiever. That’s a subtle hint (if you needed one) that he roots for the hurricane. What a boring-ass hurricane season. I mean “Ernesto”? We’re only in the freakin’ E’s and it’s almost September. ---

I managed to get in my morning walk before the rain came (though I was really, really, really hoping it would be raining so I could have an excuse to sleep some more. I was having the most delicious and sensual dream involving the actor who plays Nick Stokes from CSI) It’s raining a bit here but my company’s offices in Tampa, Orlando, Daytona and Jacksonville are all open today. I-4 West was actually really light in terms of traffic this morning which was a pleasant change from the usual mayhem. Stay dry everyone. ---

The ‘extratropical’ remains of Ernesto are supposed to go over Toronto on Sunday morning. It’ll probably just be a bit of wind and a fair amount of rain, so no problem. I feel vaguely embarassed after calling my cousin in Tampa and asking her whether she was ready, and then finding out that it basically missed Tampa… ---

My dad and brother in Miami are already taking some of the storm shutters down. I didn’t go into work today, but I will tomorrow (it doesn’t matter when I show up, as long as I do). ---

I’d be surprised if we even saw some clouds. Let’s hope the rest of the hurricane season is exactly like this. 🙂 ---

Well _that_ was embarrassing. This is why we busted our butts at work earlier this week? I know I should be grateful that Ernesto turned out to be a dud, but sheesh. It wasn’t even as bad as the thunderstorms we had last week. My office reopened at noon today, but we had multiple power surges that forced us to power down the computers for about 90 minutes. Fortunately I was able to get some work done at home this morning. Let’s hope this is the worst we get this year. ---

Ernesto is strengthening and heading for the Carolinas. I shall pass this off to our Carolina and MADopers. Good luck…especially downtown Charleston, SC.
