A know there are quite a number of gun owners and firearms enthusiasts on the boards here. And I’d like to know a little about the places where you shoot and the clubs you’re members of. I used to belong to a gun club that was a mere 2 miles from home. Didn’t have a lot of room and was kinda rundown, but the convenience more than made up for that place. We did have a lighted skeet range and two voice-activated trap set-ups that were also lighted for night shoots; that was kinda nice, too. But alas, the city eventually grew up around the place and a few years ago, the landowners decided not to renew our lease. That was the end of a club that’d been around for almost 70 years. I know belong to a club out in Gibsonburg, Ohio. It’s a hell of a lot further to travel when I want to shoot. But it’s also a hell of a lot nicer - and more active - club. Lots more room (even tho’ we don’t have a skeet range) about 100 acres right now with additional purchases being proposed. We do have both a 100- and a 250-yard rifle range; we’re also in the process of building a 500-yard range. Purchased the land for that a couple years ago and the Army Corp of Engineers is clearing the shooting lane for us. We’ve also got a short range, about 65 yards with a covered firing line. There’s a dedicated area for Cowboy shoots, a dedicated archery range, and a short 3-D archery course through the woods.
