Gun control wouldn't have stopped what happened in Vegas...should we do it anyway?

My mistake. But it is close enough since the numbers are so hugely skewed towards non-fatal firearm violence. Adjusted the rates would be respectively 7.4 for 1993 and 1.6 for 2003. 82% reduction between 1993 and 2010. AFAIU (correct me if I’m wrong) nationwide the CCW restrictions have been relaxed quite a bit during that period, right?

Would be interesting to see the same number for CA. Extremely strict gun laws - what is the CA “firearm violence” reduction?

Do these polling results/suggestions trump actual election results?

Violent crime went down in CA about the same as the rest of the nation. There has recently been a uptick.

*In the most recent national data (from 2014), California’s violent crime rate of 396 per 100,000 residents was higher than the national rate of 366 and ranked 18th among all states. *

So CA has a higher violent crime rate than most states, but has the most strict gun laws:

I dont give a rats ass about “gun violence” I care about "violence’. Violent crime in CA is high, despite strict gun laws.

However,CA had gun murders drop by 3%, exactly like the USA as a whole:

CA had a slightly higher gun murder, robbery and assault rate.
