I believe only people who commit gun crimes should be penalized. Since filing the numbers off of a gun qualifies as such, Ms. Stevens would fit the bill here. Funny thing about that family values movement. Every so often a Newt Gingrich, Henry Hyde or Bill “Felafel” O’Reilly will crop up. These folks would deny to the rest of us a right they have no problem reserving for themselves. ---

Then perhaps I should clarify. I don’t agree with the anti-gun movement, but I can respect an opinion honestly held. These folks didn’t have honestly held opinions. They had views on the subject best describesd as hypocritical. I’m not pitting the Million Mom March (though I certainly could). I’m pitting Flirty Stevens. And the anti-gun types should do so as well, IMHO. She certainly turned out to be a wonderful leader for your cause. Also, it’s not **Hentor** I was referring to. It was **aurelian**. ---

I don’t think that’s rare at all. Now, anti-gun dudes are divided into two camps: those who fear and hate guns, and those who feel that “others’ can’t be trusted with them. I’d say about half the anti-gun movement are in that “elitist” group. _They_ can be trusted with a gun- _we_ can’t. :rolleyes: By-and-large, the Police who are “anti-gun” are in the second group. They fell that 'civilians” can’t be trusted with guns. :dubious: Of course- police are “civilians” too, but that doesn’t stop them from calling everyone who isn’t police a 'civilian". This also seems to apply to most other things that people want banned- drugs for instance. A large number hate and fear drugs- other elitists (Rush for example)- feel that "we’ can’t be trusted, but “they” can handle them. :rolleyes: The division tends to go along the lines of education, but not always. ---

Funny you should mention this. I saw The Tubes back in 1985 in one of the strangest and most entertaining concerts I’ve ever seen. Todd Rundgren was the opening act. Great stuff. I’d recommend them highly if they play a show near you. ---

Didn’t the haggling of Rosie O’Donnell regarding her hypocrictical stance over private ownership of firearms while employing armed bodyguards to protect her and her kids lead to her eventually being cornered by Bill O’Reilly? If you are truly pitting Ms. Flirty–why do you paint the entire movement as hypocritical? The “these folks don’t have honestly held opinions” bit. And what the hell does that mean, anyway? Ever heard a dishonest opinion? It’s a freaking opinion. Frankly, if my son had died and I found a gun in his room–I would freak out and not know what to do with it. I am not a gun person–I’m sure several scenarios would go thru my mind. Like, what if this is an illegal firearm? Am I held accountable for this, when it isn’t even mine? where would I turn this in? I am also sure that finding the gun brought back all manner of horiible memories for her. Easiest way to deal with all this? Stick it in a drawer and forget about it. I could also see someone throwing it into a lake or even a dumpster. I am not saying that this is the course of action she should have taken–I am saying that it is understandable. Sounds to me that you just want to rant about anti-gun people. FYI, one (or even two or a hundred) people found to have behaved in a manner contrary to their espoused beliefs does not a “hypocritical” movement make. It is unfortunate for the woman involved, but does not negate the feelings or position of the group she was a part of. Carry on. ---

No, it’s a statement about anti-gun hypocrites, several of which I named. Ms. Stevens is just the latest example of this. BTW, you folks might want to check out the NRA’s [Eddie Eagle](http://www.nrahq.org/safety/eddie/) program, which explains what to do if you find a big scawy gun. ---
