[Very interesting medical situation.](http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2013/09/17/223345977/auto-brewery-syndrome-apparently-you-can-make-beer-in-your-gut?ft=1&f=1001) This dude is a home brewer. He spontaneously became drunk on several occasions without drinking a drop of alcohol. Doctors at first thought he was sneaking booze, but it eventually happened during hospitalization. Turns out he is infected with a yeast organism he uses in his home brewing, _Saccharomyces cerevesiae_ and anytime he consumed suitable carb material (bread, pasta, etc) he made alcohol! ---

Doesn’t brewing usually take a lot longer than the time it takes food to be digested? ---

Not necessarily. Any home brewer can tell you stories of having home brew yeast meet the contents of your large intestine. They ferment stuff your body didn’t digest, and the CO2 output is heavy. As are the ketones. 😛 ---

I’ve heard that if you feed a cow too many apples, their rumen will ferment them into alchohol. Not sure at all if it’s true, but it sounds plausible. ---

I’ve told the story before of my friend Dennis. We were judging a home brew competiton in Las Vegas, and after drinking all day hit the Plaza casino. Standing on the corner outside, Dennis let one rip. _Across the street_, three people held their noses and fled the scene. From the Plaza to the Golden Gate, home brew farts are the deadliest! 😃 ---

It’s not wildly implausible - there are beer brewing kits that take about a week from start to bottling (or drinking) - and the first 24-48 hours of fermentation is usually very rapid in any brew. ---

So if a cow can make booze in it’s gut, and a man can make booze in his gut, is it completely implausible that someone come up with something that makes it possible for women to lactate beer?:D:cool: The person who invents the boob beer brewing kit will be a trillionaire overnight!
