I watch the Lifetime Movie Network sometimes. Because it’s bad. Bad plots, bad dialogue, bad acting. And there are all those women who were hot in the 80’s who made Lifetime movies when they hit 13:59 minutes of fame. Today we have Markie Post, Gerald McRaney and Sharon Lawrence in a dead daughter movie; Ellen Barken, Robert DeNiro and Leonardo DiCaprio in a “blended family” movie - set in the 1950’s, so you know that’s going to be cringeworthy;Nancy McKeon in an amnesia movie AND in a Very Special Movie, Merdith Baxter and Swoosie Kurtz in a “husband having an affair” movie. Only he’s having an affair with the daughter of his wife’s best friend. ---

It’s a true story-based on the life of author Tobias Wolfe. It IS cringeworthy-but you’re cringing more from imagining living his life, than from a bad movie. It also stars a young Eliza Dushku for you _Buffy_ fans, as well as Tobey Maguire as one of Wolfe’s friends. But you’d want to rent it-because then it would be unedited. I really don’t watch Lifetime anymore, not even for the _Golden Girls_ or _Designing Women_. Occassionally, if I happen upon _Unsolved Mysteries_, I’ll watch that, but even then it’s rare. ---

A few weeks ago I was out at a bar with a couple of my (male, like me) friends. I mentioned that that day I had become the last person in the US to see _The Breakfast Club_. My buddy asked me what channel it was on, and I, without thinking because I had had one too many beers, admitted it was on WE. Bad idea for college-age males to admit to their friends they watched anything on WE. ---

I am a guy but not so insecure about my masculinity that I can say that I watch Lifetime (and WE for that matter). Let’s face it. We guys have to get in touch with our sensitive feminine side. Plus, it just might come in very handy when you are trying to score with a babe and tell her that you watched the Meryl Streep Film Festival on WE. Now that I’ve heard that Lifetime has good mainstream bondage, I will watch it all the more.     😃     😃     😃 ---

My ex would watch. I’d often feel like pulling out my hair. The last thing I ever saw was a movie called “Wife. Mother. Murderer.” I pray that we never get the Oxygen Network. ---

Hey. The Oxygen Network _rocks_. Last Saturday I had an Oxygen marathon. Several episodes of **Bosom Buddies** , followed by **Psycho** , **Misery** and **Talk Sex with Sue**. ---

I take that back, the last thing I actually saw was a commercial for an original movie. Scene shows a single mother lecturing her teenage daughter about being responsible and not having sex because of the risks (unwanted pregnancy). Cut to mother in the bathroom, crying over her pregnancy test. Ha ha she’s PREGO. Cut to daughter, “MOM YOU HYPOCRITE!!!” I didn’t know Lifetime showed comedies. ---

I know a sizeable contingent of gay men who are addicted to the usual suspects: Designing Women; Golden Girls; and The Nanny. I also know a sizeable contingent of gay men who’d gnaw their own heads off at the neck before watching Lifetime. [Nanny Fran] Go figure. [/Nanny Fran] ## Peace. I smell a marketing void: a Drag Queen channel with nothing but Judy Garland; musicals; and melodramatic black-and-white ‘B’ movies. Oh wait, there’s AMC, nevermind. ---

I don’t watch Lifetime. I’ll admit to watching _Single in the City_ on WE, though. I wonder if the show truly represents dating in the Big Apple; every woman is a magazine editor, investment banker or model who has several boyfriends, yet complains about how hard it is to meet single men in Manhattan. They all also spend their summer weekends in the Hamptons. ---

My girlfriend is addicted to the Lifetime Movie Network. I’ve watched the occasional episode of “Mad About You” on Lifetime, but other than that, it’s barely on my channel scan. Still, that puts it above CMT, BET, and Telemundo in my cable-watching esteem.
