There’s another reason, **SlowMindThinking** : I am a perfect example of it. I lost the toes on my left foot so it’s sometimes difficult and painful for me to stand or walk when I don’t have to. I’m also an addicted bathroom reader, so that may have something to do with it. There’s no worse feeling than dropping _Second Foundation_ into the toilet while you’re standing there with one hand on your junk and trying to turn the page with your thumb and _oooop_… Not that I’ve ever done that. It was one of the _Well World_ books, I think. ---

I am 6’1", with a 34" inseam. The water level of the average tiolet is about 12" from the ground (I’m estimating; I am \*\*not \*\* going into the bathroom to measure!). So if I stand up, the stream of urine drops close to 2 feet, then splashes. It’s bad enough at home; if I am at someone else’s house it’s downright disgusting. So I almost always sit down. BTW, Rhiannon just verified that 12" is correct, at least in our bathroom. ---

I pee a lot and also noticed the problem with splashing, sometimes my knees are wet but I could not sit and pee. ---

We talk about everything…I have a very unusual relationship with my children (according to my friends). In this case, it’s often hard to come up with topics to discuss in that 20 minutes visit, and since he was clearly uncomfortable with his cellmate’s behavior, we were trying to reassure him that while the sitting thing was different from his limited experience of the world, it was not something to stress over. Then we were just trying to make him laugh. Seeing any joy or mirth on his face while he’s incarcerated is a relief…too often he is scared or depressed. My children know they can discuss any topic with me. If they get too gross or intimate, I might do the mom thing, but my willingness to listen has resulted in some serious problems being addressed quickly and without lasting damage, where a child who felt less able to discuss difficult topics frankly with a parent might hide or deny a problem until it was too late to avoid bad consequences. They are far from perfect, but at least they know I’m there to listen. ---

For those of you who own your homes, consider replacing the standard toilet with a handicapped w/elongated bowl. Much more comfortable for tall folks because the drop to a seated position is not as far, therefore it’s easier on your knees and back. According to Mr. Adoptamom, your wacker won’t hit the bowl either. 😃 Ours ran about $100 more than the standard/midget toilets. Worth every penny! ---

Hubby **DeathLlama** sits when he pees at home for more or less the same reason as **Suburban Plankton**. He’s 6’4" and can’t stand the whole splashing thing. I don’t know if he wipes, though. ---

No, I’ve done it for the last… some number of years. Basically, my dad was complaining that there was piss on the edge of the toilet or the floor, or something along those lines, and made some less than nice comments about my brother and me and our cleanliness standards. (Hello? When was the last time you cleaned _your_ bathroom?) So I decided to start sitting and peeing, and liked it more than standing. (Lazier, too.) So now I just do it everywhere, except public bathrooms, where I use urinals, because public toilets are usually nasty. Re: the German “inspection shelf”: I never had a problem with it. It was also only in houses, I found, but if there were a couple of smears, they went away when the next person flushed anyway. Never even worried about it. But it should save water, since there’s only a little reservoir in the front. ---

Funny…all this talk about taller men. Mr. Snicks is 6’6", and AFAIK he stands - sounds like it, anyway. (We’re not modest people, but he is pretty particular about the bathroom - if one of us is using the toilet, the other cannot be in there. It’s different with showers and the like. Rather weird for me who grew up talking to my mother/sister in the bathroom, regardless of what we were doing at the time.) So I don’t know for sure, but I think that he stands. It’s our anniversary today…maybe I’ll hafta ask. 🙂 ---

This is why I pee sitting down when using a bowl toilet, though my preference would be to stand at a urinal. I have never spoken of this before to another human being. I have a very tiny patch of skin at the tip than spans and partially blocks the urethra. It’s not across the center but very near the edge of the hole, but still there are actually two paths for the urine flow – like 98% or more through the main channel, and 2% or less through this side channel. This little channel is so small that sometimes it doesn’t even open. But othere times it does, and I piss two streams about 30 degrees from each other. Doesn’t really matter much when I can lean up to a urinal, but not the most accurate targeting system for home use. I have thought a thousand times of getting this little patch sliced open.
