In my experience, those make the forearms too strong in relation to the biceps and I get inflammation in the ligaments in my elbow. But maybe its just me.
Popeye syndrome?
I do loves me spinach.
Several years back I got a bad case of tennis/golf elbow by running through the airport with 2 full suitcases grasped in each hand. The advice from the doc was as follows:
Cortisone will help immediately with pain relief but will increase long-term recovery time.
Get one of the straps WITHOUT the gel pad. When worn all day (what was recommended for me) the pad will dig in and cause irritation. A non-padded strap will also cause irritation, but not as much. If you feel pain at point X, the strap should be worn a couple inches closer to the wrist than point X.
Recovery time for this (depending on your severity) can be measured in MONTHS…
The best advice is the one no gym rat wants to hear.
Rest the area. If it hurts, DON’T DO IT. I had to lay off chest work for a full year due to tendinitis. One of the problems of cortisone shots is that they relieve the pain and then people go right back to doing the things that caused the injury in the first place. Plus, there is only a certain number of times you can get the injection over your lifetime.
And in twenty years, you will be reminded daily of all the injuries you thought you shrugged off.
