Don’t hold back, **Askia** : it’s unhealthy keeping all that anger bottled up. I agree, for what it’s worth: anyone reading that “poem” should just acknowledge gracefully that Lovecraft was a racist arsehole and move on, instead of resorting to _ad hominem_ attacks. Nice rant, by the way: that’s a 9.7 from the Bulgarian judges. ---

**Case Sensitive.** You’re right. All **Blake** had to do was respond civilly and eat a little crow and we would have been fine. It was only after he ignored my posts, after all those fucking digs he threw at me about me not understanding the era (and I knew I was right) that I decided to Pit his ass. I hesitated to post a thread singling out another Doper when I was partly mad and frustrated about something else that happened off the boards that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic, but — MAN!! It felt better than hopping in my car! Cheaper, too. Thank the Bulgarian judges for the high marks. ---

I will agree with you re: his racism of foreigners. No real excuse, save for that he was a product of his times. However, I wish to point out that he married Sonia Green, a jewess. ([SIZE=1]Ok, so maybe they did only last seven or so years, but I blame his pathological hatred of the cities, and the fact he would have had to move to one, for that.) On another matter, now that I read the thread this comes from, I think that **Blake** was making a very good case for what the natural reading of Lovecraft’s views were, vs. the idea that maybe people saw things differently back then, kinda’ like all those people who claim the Ruth and Naomi, of the Bible, were not gay. “That is how people spoke in those days”, as the saying goes. ---

It’s the equivalent of using the term “negro” in a discussion of, say, the politics of blacks in America. It’s not necessarily directly offensive, but it’s so bizarrely outdated as to call what you say into question (to whatever limited extent it was valid in the first place.) Anyway, anyone ever notice how bad **Blake** ’s typing is? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a post of his that wasn’t rife with misspellings and reversed letters. In fact, you can watch as he gets going in an argument (there seems to be a very adequate sample size for our purposes - he’s an argumentative fellow.) He seems to start typing faster and faster as he gets more and more pissed off and the letters start changing places in his words. The guy seems apoplectic half the time; he’ll have a stroke if he doesn’t learn to relax. ---

I just read both the “racism in novels” thread and the “cat jumping” thread, and my impression is that Blake is an asshole. **Askia** , I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for him to apologize or admit he’s wrong, if I were you. He certainly never acknowledged it in the cat jumping thread, even after he was caught being dead wrong. ---

Sheesh – I was ready to cut **Blake** some slack, 'til I looked at the cat-jumping thread, in which, over and over, he implies that other posters are either lying or mistaken when they describe having seen cats jump more than two feet. (Blake believes that the laws of physics prevent this.) Condescending asshole. ---
