Well, I went to the Minnesotan Citizens in Defense of Marriage’s website and found this [photoshopped picture.](http://www.mnmarriage.com/Truth_Truck_Large_Photo.htm) The funny thing about it is that this looks more like it’s \*promoting \* gay marriage. Maybe the real one has different words on it. I dunno. Of course, MCDM has a [different version](http://www.mnmarriage.com/2004-09-07_Press_Release_-_Efforts_to_Silence_Truth_Truck.pdf) of what happened on their press release. Somehow the part of assaulting a peace officer and jail time for the driver is omitted from the release. I guess what’s amazing to me is that people are spending that much time and money “defending” marriage from this imaginary threat and at the same time they say [that:](http://www.mnmarriage.com/About_Us.htm) “MCDM is not a homosexual hate group”. Keep saying that over and over to yourself, MCDM. Maybe soon you’ll believe it too. :rolleyes: ---

Wow…that’s an \*anti-\*gay-marriage truck? 😕 Are they sure? Two hot guys giving each other a sweet kiss, and that’s the most “disturbing” photo they could find to illustrate how terrible gay marriage is? I guess disgust is in the eye of the beholder. I mean, maybe they could find a photo of an evil lesbian holding her toaster proudly after she “converts” some poor confused hetero… ---

Well, i have nothing but contempt for the people who sent that truck out, and for anyone who thinks that opposing gay marriage is the way to “strengthen the family structure” or “protect marriage” or any of the other bullshit that the homophobes comes out with. But, no matter my feelings on the subject, i don’t think that people do themselves any credit by throwing missiles at the truck, as described by the linked article. Sure, yell and scream and protest all you want, but when you make a physical assault you cross the line. If MoveOn or NARAL or HRC sent a truck with a billboard advertising John Kerry, or advocating the right to abortion, or the right to gay marriage, to a place where Republicans were gathered, i’d be pretty pissed if the Republicans started hurling objects at it. And, IMO, what’s good for the goose… ---

So, would it be an accurate interpretation of this event that Minnesota Democrats are so incensed by the idea that they might support gay marriage they felt compelled to start a riot? 'Cause that’s pretty fucking depressing. ---

I guess the old saw about sex and marriage is true then… which means, if you want gays to stop having sex, then you should force them to marry. But, most probably, I guess Minnesotans aren’t used to the standards of Mediterannean male same-sex platonic affections. Heck, I bet two guys holding hands would be enough to call out the guard. I saw this truck when I was waiting in traffic to get into the state fair. It kept going around the block so it could be seen by the huge line of cars on Snelling. I was mildley confused by it because it seemed like rather a nice picture and I wasn’t completely sure if it was supposed to be pro or anti gay marriage. Still, the dude has a right to free speech and I can’t condone the people who were throwing shit at it and threatening the dude. Of course, the dude is responsible for his own incarceration, though. Assaulting a police officer was even stupider than assaulting the truck. ---
