Why has it proven so difficult to regrow hair on the human scalp? On a related note, does that Rogaine crap actually work?

Yes, Rogaine works, to a degree, depending on the person. My bald spot has turned into just a thin spot after a couple of years of use, but it’s not as thick as when I was 20, and probably never will be. It’s been a fairly successful holding action. I’ve regained some ground, but have not won the war. OTOH, if I hadn’t used it, the top of my head would be pretty shiny by now. Caveat Emptor, your mileage may vary.
