I was sent this link in my email of a hairless kitten. I shreaked like a little girl when I saw it. For some reason, it braught back bad memories of watching ET or something, but I am going to have to sleep with my light on. You want something even worse? Last week at the PetSmart in Lancaster, PA, we saw a hairless guinea pig. That has got to be worse. ---

Oh heavens, it’s just a [Sphynx](http://www.breedlist.com/catphotos/sph/sph.jpg). Granted, the kitten doesn’t _look_ much like a kitten, but it’s still kind of cute. Sort of like a little baby alien. Plus, that breed is supposed to be extremely affectionate. ---

Okay, so hairlessness isn’t to everyone’s taste in a pet, but think of all the hair you won’t have to vacuum up. Anyway, most hairless breeds such as Sphynx cats, rat terriers, Mexican xolos, etc., aren’t really hairless- they have a sort of super-fine ultra-suede kind of hair. It feels really neat. But they can get sunburnt, and they do feel the cold more than their more hirsute brethren. [hijack] Hairy humans = kinda gross. Hairless animals = kinda gross. At least to most people. What gives? Is it just that our expectations are not being met in these cases? Humans are _supposed_ to be smooth-skinned, animals are _supposed_ to be fuzzy. (Mammals, anyway.) I’ve always secretly thought humans look sorta naked all the time, almost fetus-like, with our large bulbous heads and spindly limbs. Damn we must look weird to other mammals. [/end hijack] ---

What? No slightly off-color jokes? We’re slipping here, guys. Anyway, I’ve always wanted to have one of those sphynx cats. See, I’d have a normal furred cat first, and get someone to watch it for me while I was out of town. Then, when I got back into town, I’d get a sphynx cat, unbeknownst to my cat sitter. I’d then call the cat sitter up, and demand to know what the hell they’ve done to my cat as all its fur has fallen off! 😃 Sooner or later, I’d let 'em in on the joke. Of course, I’d prolly have to find another cat sitter the next time I went out of town . . . ---

Sphynx kittens look weird. So do Sphinx adults because they’re so looooong and skinny. **Ratty** I pet a Sphynx at a cat show. It was like petting a peach. And as per your hijack - if humans were _fluffy_ I wouldn’t mind so much, but _hairy_ – yuck! Too coarse. ---
