When I was a kid in the 70’s we’d go out as soon as we got off the bus, go home for dinner, change costumes, and then go back out for another couple of hours.
This year my teenage daughter went out for about 3 hours after dinner and came home with 17# of candy (we weighed it) and some sort of 2’ tall light up balloon alien one house was giving away in lieu of candy.
I’m fairly new to this stuff but my rules are: everyone in a costume gets a treat (I bag these up and hand them out), If you look over the age of ten I will scare the crap out of you. Once I am out of treats I put an all finished sign on my gate. Anyone stupid enough to knock after that gets the shit scared out of them and some advice on improving their literacy in lieu of a treat.
