Please, fellow dopers, I need food ideas for my halloween party. Ultimately, I’d like to have the table laid out with as many revolting(looking) items as possible. We’ve got the brain-shaped jello-mold, but I need more!!

Well, you could make [dirt and worm cake](http://www.jaredstory.com/dirt_cake.html). Also try [this site](http://www.fabulousfoods.com/holidays/halloween/halloweenrecipes.html)for ideas like bloody eyeball cocktails.

[http://www.thefamilycorner.com/family/kids/recipes/halloweenparty.shtml](http://www.thefamilycorner.com/family/kids/recipes/halloweenparty.shtml) has some of the same recipes, but also Boogers on a Stick, which is pretty disgusting, I think. You might also try [http://entertaining.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http%3A%2F%2Frecipesource.com%2Fholiday%2Fhalloween%2F](http://entertaining.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http%3A%2F%2Frecipesource.com%2Fholiday%2Fhalloween%2F)

We’ve done both Halloween and Anti-Valentine’s Day parties for the last couple of years, so there’s a bunch of ideas that we generally do.

Devilled eggs-use food color to make the whites green, and mash up the yolks and mayo and such with brownish-red (blue, yellow and green). Smell and taste fine, but looks disgusting.

Chicken tenders soaked in green food dye and then breaded and baked look like slugs-make a dip with BBQ sauce, mayo and horseradish to set off the color.

If you can find a Asian grocery store near you, ask them if they carry duck feet. Then simmer them in soy sauce, garlic and ginger. They look like small children’s hands when you’ve gnawed the webbing away.
If you’re squeamish about the duck feet, get chicken wings or drumettes and scrape the meat into a ball at one end, then marinate and bake or fry.

Kitty-litter cake and dirt cake also make good centerpieces.
Check the net for more-Klingon recipes and Star Trek foodstuffs can also do double duty as Halloween food.

It isn’t too revolting, but one time I made a cheese ball, but in the shape of a skull.

Depending on whether you want sweet or salty, do this with either sugar cookie dough or pretzel dough. Finger cookies. Form into 2-3" long rolls - lumpy is best. Use fork tines to press knuckle wrinkles into place. Add a half almond at one end as the fingernail - feel free to dye the edge muddy green for dirty nails, or red gel frosting under the edge for bloody nails. Comes out looking just like bony witch fingers when baked.

Boogers-on-a-stick

Cheez Whiz
green food coloring
pretzel sticks

Melt the Cheez Whiz in the microwave or in a double saucepan. Add green food coloring until it’s a dirty greyish-green. Dip one end of each pretzel stick in the mixture, swirl it around, and set it on waxed paper to cool.

I’ll see if I can dig up some more…I’m not sure where the [Gross Grub](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0679866930/qid%3D1003170025/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F0%5F1/002-9460216-1492048) cookbook is…

We made eyeball cupcakes once, and they were a big hit. Frost chocolate cupcakes them with white icing first. Take a small amount of white icing and use food coloring to make it blue. That is the iris; put a little in the center of the top of the cupcake. Then take a little chocolate batter, roll it into a ball and flatten it out ot make the pupil.

The piece-de-resistance: take a toothpick and dip it into red food coloring. Use it to make squiggly veins in the white (sclera) part of the eyeball.

If this does not make you laugh, I have no hope for you.

Also, we have made pumpkin cake. Actually, it’s two chocolate bundt cakes stacked so they have the same overall shape as a pumpkin. Frost it with orange colored icing, and then using a sharp knife, cut out the eyes, nose and mouth. Take a small cardboard disk, cover it with aluminum foil and stick a banana cut in half on it. Frost that green and it’s the stem.

We made one a few years ago, and everyone thought it was a real jack-o-lantern!

Thank you all!!

I particularly dig the finger cookies and duck-feet.

Hell, duck feet by themselves may do some of these people in…

There’s more good gross recipes in [The Witch’s Handbook](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0689712375/qid=1003243684/sr=1-6/ref=sr_1_8_6/102-9772712-7814532) by Malcom Bird. Unfortunately, Amazon sez it’s out of stock. Given a few days I could probably find my copy and post a couple if there’s some interest.

Also, one of my favorite gross drinks (although not appropriate if this is a party with children) is the [Bloody Brain](http://www.webtender.com/db/drink/1688). By floating Bailey’s on top of peach schnapps and dripping in grenadine you get a very creepy looking drink.
