No crazy parties, no cute kids of our own, just [my pumpkin](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/smallpinkdragon/Pumpkins002.jpg) and **Only Mostly Dead’s** [pumpkin](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/smallpinkdragon/Pumpkins001.jpg). Not as elaborate as some, but fun in their simplicity. As a fun note, if you take the glass out of your storm door so that you may pass candy through it without knocking kids off your front stoop, it confuses the heck out of most of them. ---

I am a lowly [pirate](http://img280.imageshack.us/img280/9499/pirategn6.jpg) this year. I only have my camera phone to take the picture, though, which sucks, since I went the whole nine yards, and you can’t see my big, big boots and my long, flowing jacket. Some other pics were taken today, but they are on other people’s cameras. Blackmail, I suppose. Yarr. ---

And [me as a sort-of witch](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/foxymoron/meh-ween2.jpg). I was wearing striped tights and a black dress, but no one else took my picture, so all you get is my face. ---

My two toddlers! They had their one-year checkup yesterday (their birthday was actually on 10/21), and I brought the camera, thinking there would be a lot of cute kids in costumes, but mine were the only ones dressed up! Terribly disappointing. All the photos of little kids in costumes are just killing me! My mom died on Halloween when my son was 3. I talked to her by phone that morning, and between then and the time I arrived at the skilled nursing facility she’d been in since breaking her hip in July, she died. I was in a daze the rest of the day. But I had made a King Arthur costume for my son for his first trick-or-treat, and out we went. He didn’t really get the concept. After the first couple of houses, he kept trying to give a piece of his candy to the people who answered the door. My mom was the ultimate Halloween costume creator. No idea was too difficult or outlandish. So I’ve always told my son (now 11) to dream up whatever Halloween costume he wanted and I’d make it. I’m not saying my skills are that great, but I take a full swing at the ball, so to speak. The year, he wanted to be Riku, from the Kingdom Hearts video game.
